# Turn on notifications

> Receive your confirmations, pickup reminders and alerts on your device. DriveGo first explains what you will get, then sends a single test notification.

**Who can use this:** Individual customer, Company admin, Company member, Agency owner, Agency manager, Finance manager, Fleet manager, Agency employee
**In the app:** Settings › Notifications
**URL:** https://docs.drivego.thesuperplatform.com/en/getting-started/notifications
**Updated on:** 2026-10-25

DriveGo keeps you informed in three ways: by notification on your device, by email, and in the app's **Notifications** screen. Notifications on your device need your permission: DriveGo first explains what you will receive, and only then does the browser ask.

## When the app offers it

DriveGo never asks for permission when the app opens. The **Turn on notifications** sheet appears at the right moment:

| You are | When it is offered |
|---|---|
| Customer | Right after your first confirmed booking. |
| Agency owner or manager | On your first visit to the dashboard. |
| Agency employee | On your first visit to the task list. |

**The “Turn on notifications” sheet**

| Field | Required | Values or format | Example | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Explanation | Display | Fixed text | "DriveGo only sends what matters: confirmations, pickup reminders, returns." | What you will receive. |
| **Turn on** | Button | One tap | Turn on | The browser asks for its permission. Accept it. |
| **Not now** | Button | One tap | Not now | Closes the sheet for 14 days. |

**After you act:** DriveGo sends you a test notification, "DriveGo, Notifications activées", and shows "Notifications are on. A test notification was just sent to this device." If you refuse in the browser, DriveGo never asks again from this device.

## Steps

1. On the **Turn on notifications** sheet, tap **Turn on**.
2. Accept the browser's permission request.
3. You receive the test notification.
4. To manage this device later, open **Settings** and look at the **Notifications** row.

**Settings, Notifications row**

| Field | Required | Values or format | Example | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Device status | Display | "On for this device" or "Off for this device" | On for this device | Whether this phone or computer receives notifications. |
| **Turn on** | No | One tap, shown when notifications are off | Turn on | Turns notifications on for this device. |
| **Turn off on this device** | No | One tap, shown when they are on | Turn off on this device | Stops notifications on this device only. Your other devices and your emails do not change. |
| Help message | Display | One of the messages opposite | "Notifications are blocked on this device. To turn them back on, allow them for this site in your browser settings, then come back here." | Appears when the device cannot receive notifications: refused in the browser, unsupported browser, or iPhone without installation. |

**After you act:** the change applies to this device straight away.

## A single test notification per device

The test notification proves that your device receives messages. It is sent **only once per device**, and DriveGo decides that, not your device:

- reloading the app, reinstalling it, signing in again or opening a second tab on the same device sends **no** test notification;
- a new device gets its own test notification, once;
- there is no button to resend the test, on purpose.

## The Notifications screen

*Screenshot: The app's Notifications screen (screen no. 9).*

**Notifications screen**

| Field | Required | Values or format | Example | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unread filter | No | All or unread only | Unread | Shows only the messages you have not opened yet. |
| Notification | Display | Title, text, time, unread dot | Booking confirmed, BK-240520-7821 | A message you received. Tapping it marks it as read and opens the related screen. |
| **Mark all as read** | No | One tap | Mark all as read | Marks all your messages as read. |
| Preferences | No | For each category: on the device, by email, in the app | Pickup reminders: device and email | Chooses what you receive and through which channel. |

**After you save:** your preferences apply to the next messages. Messages already received stay in the list.

> **Quiet hours: 10 pm to 7 am**
>
> Between 10 pm and 7 am, local time, reminders and daily summaries are held and sent afterwards. Urgent alerts still go through: a reported accident or a problem with a pickup.

Every message, per role and per channel, is listed in the [notification catalogue](https://docs.drivego.thesuperplatform.com/en/reference/notifications).

## On iPhone and iPad

Notifications only work if DriveGo is installed on the home screen. In Safari, the app shows: "On iPhone, add DriveGo to your Home Screen first to receive notifications." See [Install the app](https://docs.drivego.thesuperplatform.com/en/getting-started/install-pwa).

## And text messages

Messages planned as text messages are **sent to you by email** for now. Real text messages are planned but not active yet. So check your email, including for sign-in codes.

## What happens next

- Notifications about the same booking are grouped instead of piling up.
- Tapping a notification opens the related screen, for example the booking or the task.
- All your notifications stay in the **Notifications** screen, read or unread.

## Troubleshooting

| Situation | Explanation | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Notifications are blocked on this device." | You refused permission in the browser. DriveGo does not ask again from this device. | Allow notifications for this site in the browser settings, then come back to **Settings**. |
| "This browser does not support notifications." | The browser cannot show notifications. | Use Chrome, Edge or, on iPhone, the app installed on the home screen. |
| No test notification after reinstalling | Normal: the test is sent only once per device. | Nothing to do. Later notifications arrive normally. |
| A reminder arrives in the morning, not at night | Quiet hours hold reminders between 10 pm and 7 am. | Nothing to do, or adjust your preferences. |
