# Availability calendar

> See when a car is booked or off the road, and block it when it must not be rented. DriveGo refuses any booking that overlaps a blocked period.

**Who can use this:** Agency owner, Agency manager, Fleet manager
**In the app:** Fleet › Car management › Availability calendar
**URL:** https://docs.drivego.thesuperplatform.com/en/guides/agency/availability
**Updated on:** 2026-10-25

The **Availability calendar** shows, for one car, every period when it is not free: bookings, maintenance, accidents and the blocks you set. DriveGo checks this calendar before accepting each booking.

## Steps: block a car

1. Open **Fleet**, the car, then **Availability calendar**.
2. Tap **Block a period**.
3. Choose the start, the end and the type of block, then enter a reason.
4. Tap **Save**. The period appears in the calendar and the car disappears from search for those dates.
5. To lift a block you set, open the period and tap **Unblock**.

## The Availability calendar screen

**Calendar and blocking a period**

| Field | Required | Values or format | Example | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Calendar | | Month or week, coloured periods | Rented from 2 to 5 Nov | Each period shows its type. Tap it to see the details. |
| **Block a period** | | Button | | Opens the blocking form. Not shown to employees. |
| Start | Yes | Date and time | 10 Nov 2026, 08:00 | Start of the block. |
| End | Yes | Date and time, after the start | 12 Nov 2026, 18:00 | End of the block. |
| Type | Yes | Blocked, Maintenance, Unavailable | Maintenance | The general reason for the block, visible to the team. |
| Reason | No | Free text | Windscreen replacement | Only visible to the agency team, never to customers. |
| **Save** | | Button | | Sets the block. |
| **Unblock** | | Button, on a period you set | | Removes the block. |

**After you save:** the car is no longer offered to customers on those dates. If the period touches an existing booking, the block is refused.

## Types of period

| Type | Created by | Can it be removed here |
|---|---|---|
| Rented | A booking, automatically | No: cancel the booking |
| Maintenance | A maintenance that makes the car unavailable, or you | Yes if you set it; otherwise complete or cancel the maintenance |
| Accident | An accident report, with no end date | No: it is lifted at the last step of the accident follow-up |
| Blocked | You | Yes |
| Unavailable | You | Yes |

## When two periods overlap

Two periods overlap as soon as they share a moment. A new period is free only if it ends no later than the other starts, or starts no earlier than the other ends.

- A booking from the 3rd at 10:00 to the 5th at 10:00 and a block starting on the 5th at 10:00 **do not overlap**: the car can leave again at the exact time it comes back.
- A block starting on the 5th at 09:00 **overlaps** that booking by one hour: it is refused.
- Two identical periods always overlap.

The same rule applies to customer bookings, maintenance and blocks. If two customers book the same car for the same dates at the same moment, only one booking goes through.

## What happens next

- Customers see neither the reason nor the type of block: the car simply does not appear for those dates.
- A maintenance that makes the car unavailable creates its own period and removes it when completed or cancelled. See [Maintenance](https://docs.drivego.thesuperplatform.com/en/guides/agency/maintenance).
- An accident blocks the car with no end date, until the last step of the follow-up. See [Accidents](https://docs.drivego.thesuperplatform.com/en/guides/agency/accidents).

## Troubleshooting

| Message or situation | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "This car is no longer available for those dates. Pick other dates or another car." when blocking | Your period overlaps a booking. | Change the dates, or deal with the booking first. |
| **Unblock** is refused | The period comes from a booking. | Cancel or change the booking from [Bookings](https://docs.drivego.thesuperplatform.com/en/guides/agency/bookings). |
| The car stays in **Accident** | The accident follow-up is not finished. | Complete the follow-up steps. |
