# Working offline

> What works without signal in the field app, the banner that warns you, and the Sync centre that sends your work when the network returns.

An underground car park, an area without coverage: you must be able to inspect a car without signal, and that work must never be lost. In offline mode, DriveGo keeps what you enter on your phone and sends it as soon as the connection returns. The **Sync centre** shows you at any time what is waiting.

## Before you leave

- **Install the app** on your home screen: offline mode is most reliable there. See [Install the app](https://docs.drivego.thesuperplatform.com/en/getting-started/install-pwa).
- **Open your task list with signal** before you leave. The details of each task then stay readable without signal.

## What works without signal

Read-only screens show "Last updated" followed by how old the information is. Disabled actions show: "Not available offline: this action needs a connection so the agency can confirm it."

## Messages on screen

| "Offline mode: your changes will sync." | The network is gone. The banner stays while you are offline. |
| "Saved, it will sync." | You sent a form without signal. You can move to the next task. |
| "3 items waiting to sync" | Items are waiting. Tap **View** to open the **Sync centre**. |

**After you act:** items go in the order you entered them, with their photos. An item that already arrived is never created twice. When everything has gone, the screen shows "Everything is synced" and "Nothing is waiting on this device.". Your manager sees your inspections and reports with the real time you entered them in the field.

## Steps

1. When the network disappears, the "Offline mode" banner appears. Keep working normally: each form and photo is kept on the phone.
2. Send your forms as usual. The app shows "Saved, it will sync."
3. When the network returns, sending starts by itself, and also when you come back to the app.
4. If an item stays **Failed**, open the **Sync centre**, read the last error, fix the draft if needed and tap **Try again**.

## Troubleshooting

| Message or situation | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Still offline. Items will be sent automatically when the network returns." | You tapped **Try all again** without signal. | Wait for the network. |
| A **Failed** item with "Some details are invalid" | A field is missing or not accepted. | Open the draft, fix it and send it again. |
| Items stay **Waiting** although the network is back | You were signed out while offline. | Sign in again; your items are still on the phone and go again. |
| "Already sent: nothing was duplicated." | The item had already arrived. | Nothing to do. |
| An action is greyed out | It needs online confirmation. | Do it when the network returns. |
